Midnight Kids turns back to SoundCloud remix era with take on The 1975’s ‘If You’re Too Shy’

When Midnight Kids said he witnessed The 1975 live in concert during Thanksgiving weekend, that seemed to foreshadow his final release of the year. While teasing that his “next full chapter” will begin to roll out once again—which will mark his first originals since April’s “Keep It Complicated”—in early 2023, he decided to double down on the rework he just handed in for ISOxo and FrostTop‘s “Angels Landing” that same week. And seeing the iconic English band in person now led to an adaptation of their 2020 single, “If You’re Too Shy.”
Midnight Kids explained that the original already fit into his creative narrative and it was only right he added his own touch to one of his favorite songs from one of his favorite bands. Everyone is well aware at this point that a Midnight Kids remix can elevate a track tenfold, especially his SoundCloud-hosted ones for tracks like “Sweet Disposition,” “Bulletproof,” “Pay No Mind,” and so many others. And the “If You’re Too Shy” undertaking confirms the belief that both Midnight Kids and The 1975’s sounds were meant to eventually intertwine, with the former wrapping the latter with his Midas touch of melodic gold.
