Bridget Rian – “I’ll Be Home for Christmas”
After being unable to meet with her family during the COVID holiday season, Rian recorded this classic. Her ability to dip into the melancholy, while still presenting a fresh take, is a testament to her talent. The guitar part in the middle is especially classic and welcomed. She does not try to do too much on the endearing classic, but sets herself apart from the many with a heartfelt cover.
Jon Bell – “Christmas on my Mind”
After listening to his new 3 song holiday EP, you will want to snatch up everything Jon Bell has ever recorded. His voice is absolutely lovely and built for singing holiday tracks. The bass and sleigh bell bring a beauty to the track we genuinely love. While never leaning into the cheesy, Bell hits the perfect amount of nostalgia and melancholy. He is an absolute gem of a songwriter.
Madeline Tasquin – “Winter Lullaby”
Tasquin has a gentle beauty embedded in all of her work. She is heartfelt and genuine, characteristics that make her perfect for the genre. Her latest track is a welcomed declaration of forgiveness and renewal. “Winter Lullaby” builds on the message of the season with a lovely disarming sway. The artist’s effort is rich in talent and long on good cheer. Tasquin has a deep catalog of music, but here she may just be at her best.
